“I heard…” and “They said…” can be two of the biggest lies you’ll ever hear.
In 1 Samuel 17, we read about a young shepherd named David and a giant named Goliath. Verses 8-11 describe how Goliath challenged and insulted the Israelite army, and in verse 16, it says that he did this for forty days. The Israelites bought into Goliath’s lies. They were terrified!
Instead of trusting in the God who brought them out of slavery, they were choosing to let Goliath define them and their actions.
Just because you are seeing or hearing something doesn’t mean it’s true! Don’t let the words of others define you. Look at what your Savior has said about you! Read verses such as Ephesians 2:10, Psalm 139, and 2 Corinthians 5:20.
If you don’t know who you are, then you will allow every situation you find yourself in to define you. The circumstances don’t change you. They are opportunities for God to defeat the giants so that His name can be famous.
