Desperation

Have you ever been at the end of your rope? Maybe you’re there right now—at rock bottom, hopeless, alone, or abandoned. Sometimes it feels like we have no purpose, or that God has forgotten about us. The Israelites being spoken to in Isaiah 54:1-7 felt that way for sure. They were living in oppression, shame, guilt, depression, and hurt—if anyone has ever been desperate, it was them.

God is very good at making something out of a nothing situation. In Isaiah 54:2-7, God announced to the Israelites that He was going to do something great in their future; He told them to prepare to live right-side up, in an upside-down world. Even though they couldn’t conceive of what God would do, He told them to get ready. God wanted them to trust Him with their future.

Human brokenness is the seedbed for God’s greatness. You may be in a tough place, but remember that God has the power to do something amazing through your life, through your brokenness. Instead of staying desperate at the end of your rope, let go of it and trust God with your life. God is more than enough.

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” (Ephesians 3:20)
