Are you focused on the past, the “here and now,” or the future?

All over the Bible we see that we are to be focused on the future…our eternal future:

“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.” Colossians 3:1-2

“…But I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:13-14

“Dear friends, I warn you as ‘temporary residents and foreigners’ to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.” 1 Peter 2:11

And Revelation 21! We can’t even fathom how long eternity is; the time we spend on Earth is nothing compared to the length of eternity. So take your eyes off of the temporal things you’ve made eternal, and set your heart on the eternal things that you’ve made temporal.
