Rage and Anger

“And don’t sin by letting anger control you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.” Ephesians 4:26-27

Being angry makes us restless and sleepless in our spirits. When we are angry, we don’t sleep well at night because we are holding a grudge, planning revenge, or just making ourselves even angrier. The way we handle our relationships with other people can really set us free to rest at night.

In Romans 12, we’re told to live in harmony with each other, and to never pay back evil with more evil. We are to do all that we can to live in peace with everyone. Controlling your temper can be very difficult! It’s easy and even natural to allow anger and rage to take over. But your relationships with other people, the way you treat them, tells you a lot about your own heart. When you treat others with honor and respect instead of responding with anger, even when it is hard, you will be free to sleep at night. We sleep well when we treat well!
