Ephesians 4:15-16—“…we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”
In Numbers 4, God handed out different assignments to different people. Some were responsible for taking down the curtains and cloths of the Tabernacle and covering the sacred articles inside of it. Others were to carry the poles while the Israelites were travelling, and others carried the curtains. Still more were assigned to carry the frames and crossbars of the Tabernacle.
Everyone received a different assignment from God, but it was all for the same purpose of getting the Tabernacle from one place to another. The Tabernacle was a place where certain priests would go to meet with God, and it took a lot of work to get it set up the right way. Even though the people were doing separate jobs, they were all working towards the same thing.
Ephesians 4 describes the Church as a body. Some of us are arms or feet while others are eyes or ears, but we are all given the same command from God to go into all the world and preach the Good News. We all have different talents, gifts, and skills that we can use for God to bring Him glory. God wants us to participate in His Kingdom. He has accepted and valued us, and now we have to let Him equip us. We are trained so that we can be sent out to expand the Kingdom.
When we all come together and do our parts, we shine even brighter, just like a group of light bulbs shine brighter than a bunch of single light bulbs all spread out. Screw in your light bulb, participate in the Kingdom, and fulfill your purpose to make God’s name known all over the world.
