The Wheels Came Off

This weekend was an honor to have my wife, Kim, teach with me at all experience times. We really enjoyed sharing relationship principles with all of you. Together man and woman were to do great things. However, the wheels came off for both of them.

The man was created to protect, rule & reign, receive honor & respect, and to be trusted. But in man’s passivity, the wheels came off. The Bible says because of this, the man would struggle the rest of his life with ruling and reigning, with protecting what is dear to his heart.

The woman also stepped out of God’s plan for her life. The man was not protecting, being passive, so she took matters into her own hands and was deceived by the serpent. The result of that is now she will struggle with control issues; means to manage, restrain, monitor, manipulate, and influence.

When a man becomes PASSIVE in the home or in leading his family spiritually, women have a tendency to become CONTROLLING. If we could all just work on these two principles, it would straighten out almost any area of any relationship. A man’s greatest need is RESPECT and HONOR, a woman’s greatest need is SECURITY. When you let God begin to lead your lives the entire dynamic changes, your common thread is now your relationship with your creator!

Garbage In, Garbage Out

What I say determines my direction. If I am constantly speaking about how “things will never change”, it tells me that I do not have hope in my heart. Get a vision for the future, take steps, and trust! What is flowing out of our mouths will reveal the condition of our hearts. The words we say today, paint the picture for our life tomorrow.

Guard Your Heart

This weekend we learned how our words, heart, mind and life are ALL tangled together and headed in one direction. We focused on the heart but studied how they are all intertwined together. The heart is the essence of who we are, not talking of just the physical organ, but the core of who we are. Guard your heart above all else, above your relationships, your religion, your bank account, your parenting, etc… for it determines the course of your life. We need to guard it because it determines the direction of our life. The words we speak are an overflow of the heart, of who & what we are on the inside, what we are made up of. They reflect who or what has been speaking into our lives. Our heart is like treasure, and it is extremely important. We don’t guard things that aren’t important, do we? Do you guard your garbage can at night? NO! Nobody is after that or would it matter if they took it, your heart however is a different story. Guard it, you are wonderful and marvelously made!

Is It Time For An Upgrade?

We trade in our old cars and cell phones all of the time, why not our hearts? You CAN change your heart; exchange it, trade it in, get a new one! The Bible teaches us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 – This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun that life in Christ gives and exchanges!

Once we are salvaged the Bible shows us in Ezekiel 36:26 – And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. He will give us a new heart too, one that He can shape, mold, direct, and set in the right direction. Put your heart into His hands. Do you want to meet the great potter, the one who will reshape your life?

Celebrate with us and the 141 people that said YES to that question this past weekend! We have seen 358 lives salvaged over the last 4 weekends at all of our campuses! Huge thank to all who are doing their part to make it happen as we CHANGE LIVES THAT CHANGE THE WORLD.

Our Common Thread

As we get Tangled…In One Direction, we have the potential to increase on a whole ‘nutha level! To see Bible-sized multiplication, Jesus has to be at the center of everything we do. He is the common thread we all are Tangled around! When we make him the Lord and Savior of our life, the King, Master, the CEO, the captain of our life, we put Him at the center! He becomes the “hub” of our life…everything is held together by Him, and revolves around Him! He doesn’t revolve around everything else that makes up our day-to-day activities. If we make Jesus just a portion, a part of our life, we are missing out on the incredible increase He has for us! Let everything that makes up our life revolve around Him, and as we are Tangled…In One Direction with the common thread of Jesus, we will see great increase in our life!

Don’t Throw In The Towel

It is okay to cry on your towel, just don’t throw it in. Wave your towel, surrender it to God’s love and wisdom, just don’t throw it in. Wipe the sweat off of your brow with it and move forward, just don’t throw it in. Throw it over your arm and serve with it, just don’t throw it in.

At the end of the day your towel may look like this: soiled, filthy, tattered, covered in blood, sweat, and tears…however, if you choose to pick up the towel, trust God, walk in the fullness of who He says you are, there is a GREAT exchange.

How To Recover From A Bad Day

Know God personally. God is not only a great and mighty Creator, He is also very personal. He wants a relationship with you. God doesn’t only want you to discover who He is; He wants you to know who YOU are in Him. Once you see the invisible God with your heart you will begin to accomplish the impossible with your life.

Know God is stable. Our God is the same yesterday as He will be tomorrow; the God we serve remains the same in our lack as He is in our plenty. He is stable! He does not waver in His purpose or His plan. He has marked you for a purpose, run after it.

Focus on picking up the towel and moving forward…using the moment for a SETUP, not a setback!

Ever Had A Bad Day?

Life can be like a roller coaster with its ups and downs, thrills and chills. When bad days come if we don’t recover, we can slip into depression, anger, revenge, bitterness, we can often just give up and miss so much. God doesn’t want you to become bitter, He wants you to become better. We learned about a really bad day as we looked at the life of David in 1 Samuel 30. David found himself stripped of everything: material belongings from his home burning down, loyalty when all of his friends turned their backs, family when they are taken hostage by terrorists, money when he goes bankrupt, not to mention that those friends wanted to kill him. Now THAT is a BAD day. What is incredible is that he did not throw in the towel; he picks it up and moves forward finding encouragement in his Lord. Bad days are inevitable, watch week 5 of our SETUP series to discover how to recover from a bad day.

Display Power

Last weekend we learned how to be an encourager. One way, to be an encourager, is by displaying the power of God. God does powerful things in and through His people in order for others to discover His power. There is no need for God to show up with His power if your not facing adversity. There is no need for God to show up with His power if there is something you can accomplish on your own. What good is a doctor if no one is sick?

Odds stacked against you? Consider that maybe those very challenges are needed SO THAT God can show up and display radical power through adverse situations!
